Laying Down the Law – Youth Worker Training

YAC delivers a 2 day training package which covers:

  • a framework for decision making which is cognisant of the law and is child centred and human rights compliant
  • Confidentiality
  • Negligence
  • Child Protection
  • Police Powers
  • Childrens Court
  • Being a support person at Police interviews
Our 2 day course will help you understand how the law works so you are better able to work with young people, especially those involved in the child protection or youth justice systems. Previous participants should note that the training is continuously updated to take account of changes in the law.    Since early 2014 there have been a lot of significant changes to the laws relevant to youth work, in particular Education, Policing, Child Protection and Youth Justice.

The package can be tailored in time and content to meet the needs of particular workers.

There is a cost involved, particularly if travel out of Brisbane is required, but this is negotiable.

Please keep an eye here for upcoming training opportunities or contact us to find out if we are coming to a location near you or you would like to arrange training for your staff or workers in your area.
