See you on the Flipside!
On The Flipside is an online resource created to help empower young people facing their own battles. Featuring real life stories, the website was launched at the end of October at the Brisbane Powerhouse with the assistance of heavyweight boxer, Alex Leapai.
“All young people are presented with choices as they navigate their way through relationships, education, employment, friendship, family and social pressures,” Leapai said.
“And sometimes choices are made that don’t bring about a positive outcome – I should know.”
“On the Flipside is about demonstrating through real stories of struggle turned success that it is normal to have problems and that it’s okay to ask for help.”
The website goes beyond inspiration and encouragement to give young people a direct link to resources and people who can help for adolescents and those working with or engaged with young people like parents and community leaders such as teachers, and sporting coaches.
It is also a good way to remind those of us who are now not-so-young of the challenges we, or people we knew, faced in our youth and that sometimes young people need a little extra support.
On The Flipside is free and can be accessed at www.ontheflipside.com.au.
